Meet Queen Nessa — Founder of Queen Nessa’s Gospel Jazz Lounge LLC.
Queen Nessa, born Caphenia Winessa Smith in North Carolina and raised in Hartford, Connecticut, was nurtured in the church, where she discovered her love for singing and developed a passion for the stage during her elementary school years. Since the 1970s, her creative journey has included theater, church gospel plays, poetry, book writing, and stage performances. After relocating to Atlanta, Georgia, in 2016, Winessa auditioned for the stage production The Emmett Till Story and earned the role of Emmett Till’s grandmother, adding another meaningful accomplishment to her artistic journey.
Beyond the arts, Queen Nessa brings years of experience as a preschool educator, a youth professional working with young adults facing behavioral challenges, and a support professional serving women in drug and alcohol treatment programs. Called to evangelistic ministry in the 1980s, she developed a heart for encouragement, inspiration, and uplifting others. Her diverse life experiences helped shape a vision that brings together faith, creativity, music, fellowship, and meaningful community connection.
From that vision came Queen Nessa’s Gospel Jazz Lounge—“The Q,” a welcoming, alcohol-free entertainment concept where Christians and non-Christians, families, and people from all walks of life can enjoy wholesome fun in an atmosphere of elegance and class. The Q celebrates live gospel jazz, inspirational music, praise and worship, expressive dance, group line dancing, classic Motown favorites, and appreciation for the performing arts. Guests can also enjoy Queen Nessa’s creative non-alcoholic mocktails and delicious refreshments. Her mission is to create more than an entertainment venue: a beautiful place where people can relax, connect, celebrate life, and leave uplifted.
